The prototype of the award-winning Klever X-Series with 800 Watt BIACTRON rear motor, Pinion gearbox, Gates belt drive and 1,200 Wh battery has been shown to the public for the first time on Eurobike 2019.

Combination with long range, high comfort and extremely low maintenance: especially for long-distance drivers and commuters.

Klever Mobility, the Cologne-based subsidiary of scooter specialist KYMCO, which specialises in urban e-bikes, is taking a look at the future of its rear-powered power e-bikes at the leading EUROBIKE trade fair (4-7 September 2019). At the stand of the central gearboxes manufacturer Pinion (Hall A2, A2-105), Klever will be showing a prototype of the award-winning X-Series to show the future of the premium segment.

The power of the current maximum 600 watt BIACTRON rear motor, developed in-house, will be increased up to 800 watts. In the shown prototype of the E-Bike45 class it is combined with a Pinion gearbox and a belt drive from Gates. A new 1,200 Wh battery, which significantly exceeds the performance of the 850 Wh model currently in use, ensures a longer range.

"We continue to regard the rear motor as the ideal drive solution in urban areas," stresses Ruud Sjamaar, General Manager responsible for the Benelux- and German-speaking countries. In addition to their low noise and vibration levels, the Klever motors were distinguished above all by their high elasticity and torque at higher cadence frequencies. This makes them the first choice especially for fast ebikes45.

Daniel Wilden, Product Manager and Head of Customer & Sales Service at Klever, is particularly convinced by the combination: "A powerful motor and a long range, together with comfortable and extremely low-maintenance components such as those from Pinion and Gates, are ideal – especially for long-distance drivers and commuters".

It is not yet clear when and at what price the new premium ebikes from Klever will be available. "We are currently still in the development and test phase. But one thing is certain: The new class is coming and it will be a real alternative to the car, we are convinced of that," says Ruud Sjamaar.

Advantages of rear-wheel drive are often underestimated

The advantages of the rear drive include its power, elasticity and silence. The power of the motor is transferred directly to the rear wheel hub without an internal transmission and without the detour via chain and gears. For drivers with rear-motor pedelecs, this means significantly less wear, lower costs and fewer visits to the workshop.

Rear motors also deliver full power even at higher speeds and in large gears. "Especially with the fast ebike45 class, the difference can be experienced immediately. That's why we advertise here with "real" 45 km/h with conviction. With currently up to 600 watts and in future 800 watts, the Klever BIACTRON rear engines are among the strongest on the market," says Ruud Sjamaar.
